We are excited to announce that we will be conducting a new volunteer training for individuals interested in becoming a Kara volunteer in our Adult Services Program. Volunteers are needed to provide compassionate grief support to adults grieving the death of a significant relationship. Due to the diverse populations we serve and various forms of loss we support (from death by suicide and cancer, to the death of a sibling and spouse), we are looking for individuals who can accompany another through their unique grief journey, either in person or via tele-health support. For those interested in becoming a volunteer we ask that you attend an Informational Meeting.
Two sessions are being offered. These meetings will provide details about Kara programs, the training, and volunteer commitments. Please note that applying to become a volunteer requires attendance to an informational session to ensure a clear understanding of the volunteer commitment and expectations.

Our training is designed in an intentional way that honors both the sensitive and powerful nature of grief and the participants taking part. Due to this our volunteer training has size limitations, to ensure that participants receive adequate support throughout the training process. Due to these size limitations and the reverence for grief, we follow an application process. We receive more applications than we have spots available in the training, therefore please note that applying to volunteer does not guarantee entry into training.
Below is a summary of our application process to allow for clarity and transparency for interested applicants. If you have questions or need support please contact us at training@kara-grief.org
Please note that training dates are subject to change based on county health and safety guidelines regarding the Coronavirus pandemic. In addition, participation in training will require adhering to strict guidelines and protocols regarding COVID-19 to ensure the health and safety of all participants.
