Professional Referrals are welcome. Please review our Professional Referral Guidelines

1:1 Peer Support

Adults can receive individual support from a trained volunteer peer counselor. Peer-based services offer emotional support to those grieving a death or coping with a terminal illness (their own or another's). One-on-one weekly meetings are scheduled at the mutual convenience of the individual and the peer counselor. Learn More

Group Peer Support

In addition to one on one support, many find it helpful to meet with a group of others who have experienced a similar loss. Adults can participate in specific peer support or drop-in groups. These groups, facilitated by trained volunteers, offer an opportunity to share experiences in a safe, supportive environment. Learn More

Young Adults

In addition to the individual and group support listed above, Kara hosts unique peer-support events geared toward the young adult community (ages 18 - 35) such as hiking groups and expressive workshops. These events are facilitated by trained volunteers and offer an opportunity to navigate one's grief experiences in a safe, supportive environment. Learn More

Grief Therapy

While our peer support model is appropriate for many, some individuals have circumstances that complicate their grief work, such as multiple losses, complex family relationships, depression, anxiety, or stress reactions due to traumatic circumstances. These individuals may benefit from therapy rather than or in addition to Kara's peer support services. Learn More

Online Support Group for Men
I literally don’t know how I would have gotten through the past year without my group and my individual counselor. Having someone or a group of people who understood, on a weekly basis was invaluable.
