For LGBTQIA+
As a minority group, the LGBTQIA+ community has felt a unique emotional stress, meaning that the death of someone significant in life can be disproportionately challenging. A person’s experience of the AIDS crisis, higher rates of suicide, and hate crimes may trigger depression or other mental health challenges related to grief and loss.
Kara compassionately acknowledges the identities, stories, and grief experiences of bereaved LGBTQIA+ youth and adults, and offers these Bay Area community resources as possible additional support:
- Adolescent Counseling Services(ACS)
- allcove
- Asian American Community for Community Involvement(AACI)
