What to Expect When You Contact Us
With the goal of serving the bereaved in our community while prioritizing the health and safety of clients, volunteers, and staff, Kara service options may include both in-person and telehealth (phone or video meetings) support services. Guided by empathy, Kara serves the grieving in our community with care and compassion. We understand that issues of grief and loss are very personal. When you are grieving the death of someone, it may be difficult to reach out and ask for help and we acknowledge the energy and effort it takes to do so and want to serve you with empathy, dignity and respect. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible to connect you to the grief support services that meet your unique needs. Some people find it helpful to have a supportive family member or friend present with them when they contact us for services.
You can request service one of two ways – by calling directly or by submitting an online web request.
Upon receiving your request:
- Your information will be passed along to a staff member who will call you back, typically within two business days, to discuss your situation in more detail and assess your needs and preferences.
- Sometimes that phone consultation meets a person’s needs, but more often it is agreed that a further level of grief support will be helpful. At that point we then schedule an in-person interview with you to determine appropriate services.
- The in-person interview generally takes about one hour. The purpose of the meeting is to determine what specific service will best meet your needs. Options include one-on-one peer support, specialized grief group for adults, children and teens, drop-in groups, grief therapy, referral to another agency or therapist, or some combination of these options. When You Call Our Office...
Our regular office hours are Monday thru Thursday, 9am until 4pm and Friday 9am until 1pm. During your initial phone discussion, you will be asked for some basic information about you and your loss situation. Voice mail messages will be returned promptly in the order we receive them.
When You Submit Online...
You can submit an online service request anytime. Simply fill out the form with as much information as you desire to explain your needs and submit your request. We typically respond to your request within two business days.
