Hope for the Bereaved – 2023 Fund Appeal

Hope for the Bereaved

For over 46 years, Kara has been a source of comfort and hope for those who are grieving in our Bay Area neighborhoods. With the unwavering dedication of our staff and volunteers, we offer bereavement services at no cost to thousands in our community annually. Your financial contribution to our vital work ensures that both adults and youth can access a space for healing, meaningful connections, and practical tools to find hope after loss, all without the added stress of financial concerns.

The heartfelt feedback from individuals and organizations we’ve supported serve as a compelling testament to the positive impact of our services. Your generosity will bring healing and hope to clients engaging in one-on-one counseling, group support, trainings, and community events in the year ahead.

Past recipients of Kara’s services share the impact of our healing work:

There are no words to express how grateful I am to have received the help I needed at the time. I don’t know how I would have proceeded with my life the way it was if it weren’t for Kara. - 1 on 1 Peer Client

The Kara team was amazing and provided much needed support to employees and resources to me so that I can continue to work with faculty and staff in the days and months ahead. It was such a relief to have a local organization available to support our community during this challenging time. - Organzational Client

My two brothers died when I was almost 4 and 17 years old. At the time, I didn’t have any support to help process and understand what happened, and my family didn’t talk about it. 30 years later, Kara has given me the space and courage to talk about these deaths, to understand that I’m not alone in my grief, and to help me reconnect with my brothers. It is incredibly meaningful for me to now be a volunteer in Kara’s Youth & Family program where I can provide a safe and supportive space for other kids on their grief journey and help them build a foundation of healing.. - Peter B.

We urge you to make a donation today! Join us as we provide compassion and hope to the bereaved and strive to build a more grief-informed and grief-sensitive community.

We are deeply grateful for your kindness and generosity.
