oin us on Saturday, April 29th for Kara’s 2023 Spring Fundraiser, for a special opportunity to celebrate Kara’s work with friends and family and support our bereavement services for the community. We will enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and beverages, live music, raffles, and games while raising crucial funds for Kara’s services through a luxury travel package silent auction and fund-a-need auction.

The event will feature an interactive presentation by Litsa Williams, MA, LCSW-C on the topic: How We Grieve: What I’ve Unlearned About Living Life After Loss.

Litsa is the co-founder of the online grief community What’s Your Grief. She’s a grief therapist with 15 years of experience specializing in sudden, traumatic, and unexpected loss and ambiguous grief. Drawing on personal and professional experience with grief, WYG was built as a resource offering concrete, practical, creative, down-to-earth, and relatable support, founded on the values of psychoeducation and creative coping. It was developed as an online space for those looking for alternatives to or a supplement to traditional counseling and support groups. It has grown to serve more than 5 million visitors each year. Litsa received her master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work, as well as a master’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Warwick (UK). She has been interviewed as a grief expert for the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, NPR, and New York Times. She is co-host of the What’s Your Grief podcast and co-author of the book What’s Your Grief: Lists to Help You Through Any Loss. (each guest will receive a complimentary copy)

During our time together we will also be acknowledging Dr. Sue Linville Shaffer for her 40 years of service and dedication to the mission of Kara. Invite your friends, family, and colleagues to this special late afternoon community event where we have the privilege of hearing Litsa Williams speak and an opportunity to support Kara’s important programs and services through our RafflesGames, a Silent Auction and a Fund-a-Need Auction
