Cultivating Our Grief ~ A Morning for Mourning

Whether you have experienced a death recently or are revisiting past griefs, this workshop is an invitation to slow down, reflect and connect to ourselves, each other and our collective humanity.

Saturday June 7th, from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM IN-PERSON

Cultivating Our Grief, a Morning for Mourning, is a workshop that aims to provide space, time, and opportunities to tend to ones grief. In this workshop you will be invited to self reflect and honor your grief through a combination of collective rituals and break out groups. This in person workshop will offer 5 break out discussions. All break out groups are to be viewed as invitations to sit with your grief in the collective presence of other fellow grievers.

Below are descriptions of the break out groups we will offer. You will have the ability to attend two of the following:

Cultivating Self Compassion
This session will focus on utilizing the skill of self compassion to manage and engage in ones grief. Participants will learn some basic elements of self compassion, create awareness around personal practices of self compassion and will have the opportunity to practice self compassion exercises.
Cultivating Your Inner Grief Space
This session aims to cultivate awareness through the use of various exercises and opportunities of connection, both to oneself and other participants. Through the use of guided visualizations, art, symbology and conversation, one is invited to reflect and explore ways to hold both grief and hope.
Cultivating Rituals and Healing Through Writing
This session will include a discussion around the purpose and use of rituals in honoring our grief. The session will provide insight about creating personalized rituals around grief and participants will partake in a ritual(s) during the session. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a writing activity about their grief. The writing activity will be held as an act of mourning and optionally shared with others during the session.
Cultivating a Deeper Understanding of Loss
This session will introduce the concept of secondary losses and provide the opportunity for participants to identify and honor the secondary losses in their lives. A mix of education along with a guided activity will be utilized to help grow one's awareness around the impact of the death of a significant relationship.
Cultivating Meaningful Conversations on End of Life
This session will focus on end of life decisions and questions. Utilizing prompt starters and conversation this break out session will gently invite you to consider what matters most to you in life and at the end of your life.
 
Please note this workshop will be held in person. There is no fee to attend, donations are welcome. The workshop will be held at Kara's offices located at 457 Kingsley Ave in Palo Alto CA
