Serving the San Francisco Bay Area since 1976, Kara provides comprehensive grief support, crisis response and education to individuals and communities facing the difficult realities of death and dying. Serving more than 5,000 individuals in 2016, Kara provides a wide breadth of grief support and education services to the community including: individual and group peer support; in-house psychotherapy; on-site crisis intervention; bereavement education and training services; Camp Erin, a bereavement camp for children 6-17 years old; and community events.
A variety of organizations provide mental health support services in the Bay Area, but support for Spanish speakers is minimal. To address this increasing need, and as part of the agency’s current strategic plan, Kara has expanded upon its current base of services to provide culturally relevant peer-based grief support to members of our community whose primary language is Spanish.
The Spanish Services Manager is instrumental in working with volunteers, staff, and partners in the continued development, implementation and growth of this important service program for our community. The position will work to ensure the delivery of appropriate peer-based grief support services to Spanish speaking clients and interface and collaborate with clients, Kara staff members, volunteers, community partners, organizations and supporters.
